Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his position after a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the club's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with results so bad.”

He finished, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to the top, show everyone once more what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
