Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for a new domestically developed defensive UAV to strengthen its air defences. Three initial producers have started production, with 11 more preparing to set up assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials announced this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Battlefield Conditions

The drones utilize a nationally created system called “Octopus” designed to neutralize Iranian-made drones. The system has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of manufacturing up to 1,000 defensive drones daily.
